Services: Balaclava Road Children's Centre

Balaclava Road Children's Centre is a community based, not-for-profit Child Care Centre, which has operated from these premises since 1978, sponsored by Cairns and District Child Care Development Association Incorporated. The centre is licensed by the Department of Families. Our centre is fully accredited by the National Accreditation Council.

What makes our centre special?

• Qualified and more staff than required by regulations (more one-on-one).
• Centre is fully air-conditioned.
• We cater for babies from 6 weeks to 2 years, toddlers 2-3 years and a multi-age group 3-5 years.
• Daily kindy gym Monday-Friday.
• Bus service to and from school and after school care program.
• Parent resources available:
  • Parent library books.
  • Information hand-outs e.g. biting, toilet training.
• Ample resources and equipment for children and staff.
• Free-flow programs. Activities include:

• Monthly parent committee meeting - Parents have the opportunity to be involved in policy making and decisions regarding the general running of the centre. Our parent committee works in conjunction with the Director and staff, and conducts a monthly evening meeting at the centre

• Close to Our Lady Help of Christians school and to Stocklands Shopping Centre
