FDC Philosophy

NQ Family Day Care is committed to providing every child with an early learning experience that protects and promotes their wellbeing.

At the heart of this is a commitment to building inclusive, trusting and respectful relationships which offer the foundation to children to explore, investigate and maximise their learning potential.

We are strong advocates for play based approaches to learning, recognising each child’s natural curiosities and motivations as instrumental drivers to decision making and being intentional in our planned experiences.

All children are unique and valued citizens with rights and responsibilities. This is reflected through our learning environment which has real world learning opportunities including the use of real tools and materials. This type of environment promotes investigation, agency and collaboration, all fundamental lifelong learning qualities.

We whole heartedly embrace the outdoors and utilise our natural environment as a teacher. Our Bush Kindy Program which supports a positive environmental ethic is engaged at some locations more formally whilst others make use of their everyday natural environments regularly.

We continuously seek ways to foster positive partnerships and work within the context of our local communities and families. We commit to ongoing learning and conversations about reconciliation within our service encouraging understandings, ongoing reflection and building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in our community.

It is our hope and desire to establish and build resilient partnerships that equally celebrate our histories and our future. We have partnered with the Ngai-Kungo-I people who have led our commitment to help clean up the environment. This partnership has led us to explore the importance of the local indigenous language as part of our ongoing partnership.

Our Educators are highly valued and experienced professionals with their own philosophies, perspectives, talents and interests that further enrich our educational programs. We promote and engage our Educator team as a valued learning community where we share perspectives, debate ideas and reflect on what we do, why we do it and how we can strengthen our practices. We have a commitment to bringing the best version of ourselves as Educators and we embrace a quality improvement mindset.

Goals and Objectives

We embrace the National Quality Framework for children drawing on the Belonging, Being and Becoming and My Time Our Place.

The framework guides our practise for a continuous cycle of improvement. We are committed to sustainable practices and the principles of Reduce, Recycle and Re-use where appropriate.

We continuously seek ways to build professional knowledge and develop supportive learning communities as a team and individually.
