Family Day Care Cairns - Our Scheme

Family Day Care Cairns is a Community Based Family Day Care Scheme, which has been established in the Cairns Community for the last 30 years. The Scheme offers flexible, high quality, Accredited care to meet the changing needs of today’s families.

A Community Based Management Committee – Cairns and District Child Care Development Association Inc sponsors Family Day Care Cairns. Their main focus is ensuring that a quality, flexible and affordable service is provided for the community.

Small groups, a safe family atmosphere and a consistent care provider each day ensure that each child’s individual needs are met.

Parents and Carers are encouraged to have input into the Scheme by either attending our Support and Advisory Group or attending social outings and planned days organised by the Scheme from time to time.

The Scheme receives funds from both the Federal and State governments, and is Accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council and Licensed by the Department of Community Services. As such, very high standards of accountability at both the operational and service level are met.

Currently 30 Care Providers are registered with our Scheme. These Carers are trained and supported by a Coordination Unit made up of a team of qualified professional workers. Care is organised through the Coordination Unit who provide ongoing support to both families and Carers and monitor the high level of safety and compliance required by Carers.

Children and Carers receive the benefit of weekly play seasons and regular support and monitoring visits from the staff.
